2 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi bus crash

At least two Bangladeshis were killed and over a dozen were critically wounded as a bus carrying them in the country’s western Jeddah city crashed this morning, Bangladeshi embassy officials in Saudi Arabia said, reports BSS.

“We have so far confirmed deaths of two Bangladeshis — Md Elahi of Magura Sadar and Mohammad Shahjahan Miah of Bahubal, Habiganj — but some 13 more wounded compatriots are being treated at three different hospitals,” Head of Chancery of Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah Mostafa Jamil Khan told BSS. Unconfirmed reports, however, said the casualties could be as high as 11.

Khan said consulate officials are there in the hospitals to look after the injured and the details will be given later once the reports come from there.

It was learned that the driver of the minibus carrying Bangladeshi workers lost his control over the steering as one of the tires of the vehicle blew and stuck an electric pole.
