Stocks witnessed upward trend yesterday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The rising major sectors were engineering, paper and printing and textile. A total of 165 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 35.95 points up at 5,309.12. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 8.95 points up at 1,245.47 and with 8.04 points up at 1,902.57 respectively.
The volume of shares increased to 17.07 crore from Tuesday’s 12.85 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE increased to Tk 741.23 crore from Tuesday’s Tk 627.89 crore.
At the DSE, price of 207 securities out of the day’s 338 traded issues closed higher against 87 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were DESHBANDHU, Sino Bangla, BPML, Prime Tex and NFML. The major losing issues were Modern Dying, Rupali Life, Imam Button, ITC and GREENDELMF.
BPML topped the turnover leaders followed by Monno Ceramics, UPGDCL, Legacy Foot and RSRM Steel.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 109.55 points up at 16,361.65.
At the CSE, 242 issues were traded. Of those, 140 closed higher and 68 closed lower while 1.22 crore shares worth Tk 63.33 crore changed hands.
