Ctg journos continue protest

A group of journalists of Chattogram continued their protest programme for the fourth consecutive days yesterday on Central Shaheed Minar premises over death of two and a half year old girl due to alleged wrong treatment in Max Hospital in Chattogram. The journalist leaders demanded punishment of guilty doctors, closure of Max Hospital and cancellation of certificate of Dr Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury, Bangladesh Medical Association’s Chittagong chapter general secretary. If the demands  are not met by Sunday they will announce tougher movement, the leaders said.

In addition to journalists, several political and socio-cultural organisations also joined the rally to express their solidarity to journalists’s demands.

Raifa Khan, daughter of the daily Samokal’s senior correspondent in Chittagong Rubel Khan, who was suffering from cold and sore throat died allegedly due to wrong treatment at Max Hospital early Friday.

Nazma Akhter Mita, leader of city unit Mahila Awami League, who was present at the protest programme alleged that her husband died at Max Hospital about six months ago due to wrong treatment.

Chattogram Union for Journalist (CUJ) president Nazim Uddin Shyamal, Chattogram Press Club president Kalim Sarwar, secretary Suklal Das, BFJU leader Molla Zalal, CUJ general secretary Hasan Ferdous, former president Reaz Hyder Chowdhury, among others, spoke.
