Heavy rain inundates Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM: Due to torrential rain for the last two days, many places in the city and its adjoining areas went under knee-deep water, causing immense sufferings to the residents, reports UNB. Water submerged many areas of the port city, including Bakolia, Agrabad, Halisshahar, Bahaddarhat and Chwakbazar. People who went out for work had to struggle a lot to reach their destinations. Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at Patenga Met office, said the rainfall will likely to continue for two to three more days due to the monsoon and rain accompanied by thundershowers will likely to occur. The Met office recorded 252 mm rainfall till 12 noon, he said. Besides, the vehicular movement on Chattogram-Rangamati road remained suspended from Tuesday morning as the road went under water following heavy rainfall and onrush from the upstream, said Abdul Karim, OC  of Raozan Highway Police Station.
