Stocks witnessed downward trend yesterday of the week due to price fall in large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The falling major sectors were ceramics, engineering and textile.
A total of 163 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 49.24 points down at 5,273.17. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 11.25 points down at 1,236.52 and with 21.29 points down at 1,894.53.
The daily trade fell to 12.84 crore shares from Monday’s 16.42 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Tk627.89 crore from Tk784.75 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 340 securities, prices of 102 securities closed higher against 195 losing issues. The major gaining issues were BPML, RAKCERAMIC, Tosrifa, Legacy Foot and DSSL. The major losing companies were Standard Ceramics, Savar EFR, Atlas Bangla, Modern Dying and USMANIAGL.
BPML topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, RSRM Steel, Monno Ceramics and Legacy Foot.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 137.79 points down at 16,252.10.
At CSE, 238 issues were traded. Of those, 77 closed higher and 138 closed lower when 84.50 lakh shares worth Tk35.09 crore changed hands.
