Celebrating the 119th birth anniversary of ‘Bidrohi Kobi’ (rebel poet) Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad organised a two-day event titled ‘Satyer Joy Hok, Samyer Joy Hok’. The programme held on Saturday and Sunday on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha of the capital.
Noted artiste Mostafa Kamal Abbasi inaugurated the two-day event on Saturday at the Music and Dance auditorium of BSA and handed over ‘Nazrul Parishad Award’ to the two Nazrul exponents Shaheen Samad and Sumon Chowdhury. They received crests, 50 thousand taka and gifts.
Shaheen Samad expressed her feelings by saying, “This is our organisation. I am feeling proud of receiving this award. It has increased my responsibility towards music.”
Sumon Chowdhury said, “By receiving this award, I am inspired to work more and more.”
After the award ceremony, a cultural programme was held where artistes from district level performed song and dance. In the solo segment, Juli Sharmili rendered Firiya Jodi Se Ase’, Uttam Kumar Ray rendered Noyon Bhora Jol Go Tomar’, Faisal Ahmed rendered ‘Se Mithe Sur’, Asim Kumar Dhruba rendered ‘Badhu Tomar Ei Je Biroho’ and Ferdous Parvin rendered ‘Dokkhin Samikoroner Sathe’.
Besides, noted singer Mostafa Kamal Abbasi, Shaheen Samad and Nashid Kamal among others rendered song in the porgramme. The first day of the programme ended with the music presentation of Sujit Mustafa.
The second day of the programme yesterday featured solo music performance, recitation, chorus rendition and dance performances.
