An 11-year-old girl was hacked to death allegedly by unidentified miscreants at her home in Land Mark Society area under Bakalia police station of the city yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Elham Binte Nasir, 11, a six-grade student of city’s Mern Sun School, and daughter of Saudi expatriate Md Nasir Uddin hailing from Demsha of Satkania upazila in Chattogram. They were living at 6th floor of SM Laila Bhaban at Land Mark Society. The deceased mother Nasrin Akhter said she went to drop another daughter Zarin Binte Nasir, 5, at school at around 8am. After returning home at around 9am she found throat-slit body of Elham.

With the help of other residents of the building, they whisked Elham off to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared her dead. SM Mostain Hossain, Deputy Police Commissioner (South) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), visiting the spot said, “We are investigating the matter keeping everything in mind. We are trying to dig out the reason why a minor girl was killed at her home.”
