Nahid urges all to work for improving education standard

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday urged all to work together for improving the standard of education in the country, reports BSS. “Quality teachers mean quality education. As teachers play a vital role in improving the standard of education, we are arranging trainings for them both at home and abroad. Teachers should do their work with outmost dedication to build the future generation,” he said. The minister came up with the observations while distributing awards on National Education Week-2017 and 2018 at International Mother Language Institute in city’s Segun Bagicha area. “The main goal of education is to turn the new generation as the architects of modern Bangladesh. So we have to raise them as capable and skilled human being. We are inspiring people in education sector by awarding the best

educational institute, the best headmaster, principal, madrasa superintendant, class teacher, district and Upazila education officer in national level. We are also awarding best Rover, BNCC and Girls Guide group to develop their leadership skills,” Nahid added.

Presided over by Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Sohorab Hossain, the function was also addressed by Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md. Alamgir, additional secretary Dr Aruna Biswas and Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Md. Mahbubur Rahman, among others. A total of 180 teachers, students and officials were awarded in 25 categories on the occasion.

IU classes resume today

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: The regular classes and examinations of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will resume from today after the vacation of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and summer. The administrative activities of the university resumed on Monday, said the sources of IU registrar officeon Monday. IU acting registrar, SM Abdul Latif told UNB that the academic activities of the university would resume on Wednesday while the residential dormitories of the university would open for the students from Tuesday morning. The university remained closed sinceMay 15on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and summer vacation.

26th academic council meeting held at NUB

The 26th meeting of the academic council of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) was held on Monday at the board room of the university, says a press release. The VC of NUB, Prof Dr Anwar Hossain presided over the meeting. Academic Council Member Prof Dr M Kaykobad, BUET and Prof Dr Kazi Saleh Ahmed, former VC, Jahangirnagar University were present among other members. The meeting reviewed the minutes of the 25th Academy Council and progress of the implementation of earlier plans, approved the final results of honours and masters in the decisions of the 76th CBE meeting. The meeting also reviewed the construction progress of the permanent campus and also reviewed many other academic Subjects. NUB Registrar Lt Col. Aqtedar Ahmed Siddiqui (Retd.) conducted the meeting.
