Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said revenue collection will increase several times if modern technology is used in collection of Value Added Tax (VAT), reports BSS.

He suggested bringing all shops, business establishments and service providing organizations under Electric Cash Register system to ensure collection and deposit of VAT properly.

The minister said this while speaking at a discussion on the national budget for fiscal year 2018-19 in the capital yesterday.

Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organised the discussion with its president Mohammad Selim in the chair.
