GAZIPUR: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said here yesterday the government wants a free, fair and neutral polls to Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) scheduled to hold on June 26 (Tuesday), reports BSS.  “We expects that the Election Commission (EC) will give the nation a gift by holding the GCC polls in a free, fair and neutral manner” he said after witnessing the concluding march past of the newly appointed Ansar-VDP personnel upon ending their basic training course at Ansar-VDP Academy at Shafipur in Tangail.

The minister also expressed hope that the voters would choose the right candidate as mayor of the GCC who will work for the city’s ongoing development works.  “Ansar-VDP members have been imparted with necessary training to prepare them for helping the authorities concerned in holding peaceful elections in the days to come”, he said, hoping that Ansar personnel would play vital role in holding the upcoming elections in a free and fair manner likewise the previous elections.

Among others, Director General (DG) of Ansar and VDP Major General Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin, Additional DG Brig Gen Muhammad Nurul Alam and other high officials of the force were present on the occasion.
