After reviewing the activities of different ministries and divisions for the last three years, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet bureaucrats from the next month to revamp the civil administration to expedite the completion of different development projects ahead of the next national polls likely to be held in December this year. As part of this initiative, Hasina will first meet officials of the Public Security Service Division and the Security Service Division under the home ministry on July 12, said sources.
Ahead of the meeting, officials of the home ministry and its departments are busy with completing their duties and recording the progress of their respective projects.
It has been gathered that the authorities concerned have started to reshuffle the top layer of the administration by transferring and posting secretaries at the Secretariat. Three officials were transferred to different ministries and divisions as secretary and acting secretaries yesterday.
Sources said that more senior officials at the rank of secretary are likely to be posted or transferred to different ministries and divisions soon.
Talking to The Independent, Public Security Service Division secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin said it would be a privilege for the officials to meet the Prime Minister at the ministry. “We hope that she (PM) will give us directives to expedite our tasks as she did during her earlier visit,” he added.
“We've completed a number of projects in time and taken some other projects to be completed by December this year,” he said.
Mostafa Kamal Uddin said they have taken necessary measures to maintain law and order across the country.
In 2015, Hasina had met with bureaucrats from
different ministries and divisions. During her early visit to the home ministry at that time, the decision to bifurcate the home ministry into two divisions—Public Security Service Division and Security Service Division—had been taken.
