PM vows to change rural lifestyle

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said her government will be able to upgrade Bangladesh's rural lifestyle into urban one if the continuation of the government is maintained, reports UNB. "If there's continuation of the government, I believe, we'll be able to provide improved lifestyle to the people of every village like urban one through turning each village into small township by implementing the development plans we've taken," she said.

The Prime Minister came up with the promise while speaking in Parliament about Bangladesh Awami League marking its 69th founding anniversary.

Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, said her government will build the country as a hunger- and poverty-free Sonar Bangladesh as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Focusing on the glorious history of Awami League, she said all the achievements of Bangladesh came through this party. "Whatever the achievements Bangladesh has gained it gained because of Awami League."

"Since people have given the mandate to Awami League, the Bangalee got the dignity of the state language, Bangladesh attained independence, got the dignity of a developing country. The party has turned it into Digital Bangladesh and launched Bangabandhu-1 Satellite into the space," Hasina said.

She also said maritime demarcation deputes were disposed of and the Chittagong Hill Tract Accord was signed during the Awami League's regimes. Hasina went on saying, "Bangabandhu resigned from the cabinet in 1957 with a view to building the organisation (AL), which is a unique example in Bangladesh."
