A former Juba League leader, who sustained stab injury in an attack at local Juba League office on Ghop Central Road of the district on Friday night, died on the way to Dhaka early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Arafat Munaf Liton, 40, joint secretary of town unit Juba League.
Abul Bashar Mia, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said that a group of miscreants numbering 25-30 stormed into ward no 3 Juba League office around 10 pm while he alon with others was watching the world cup football match.
The miscreants stabbed Liton indiscriminately, leaving his critically injured. Juba League activists Fazlur Rahman Milon, 42, was wounded in the attack.
Later, they fled the scene blasting 2 crude bombs which created panic in the area.
Being rescued by locals, the injured was rushed to Jessore General Hospital. Later, he died on the way to Dhaka.
A case was filed and two people were arrested in this connection, the OC said. Ramjanul Islam, cousin of Liton, filed the case with Kotwali Police Station.
