Man burnt to death,
40 shops gutted

A man was burnt to death and 10 others were injured in a razing fire at Shekherchar Bazasr (Baburhat) in Narsingdi Sadar  upazila on Wednesday night. At least 40 shops were also gutted in the fire. The deceased was Akkas Ali, 50, employee of Tanim  Print shop at Shekherchar bazsar in Narsingdi sadar upazila. Police sources and witnesses said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at Lovely Print and Cloth Store. The fire soon engulfed other 40 other shops. On information, fire fighters from Madhabdi, Narsingdi, Ghorashal,  and Bhairab rushed to the spot  and brought the fire under control after five hours of frantic effort. Officer-in-charge of Nakrsingdi sadar police station Abul Kashem and businessmen said loss of properties will be colossal. Injured Arman Mia, Suruj Mia and Burju Mia have been admitted to Narsingdi Zila Hospital, where seven others were given first aid.
