Five JMB men held in Rajshahi
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives arrested five members of banned Islamist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from different places of the Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Khairul Islam, 48, son of late Jahir Uddin of Jahanabad area in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district, Selim Reza, 26, son of Golam Mostofa of Hakimpur village, Akbar Ali, 39, son of Saidur Rahman, Nawshad Ali, 50, son of late Siddique of Nerendrapur and Shakil Ahmed, 50, son of Jafar Ali of Gotapara village of Chapainawabganj district.
Based on information from four JMB members, arrested on May 14, elite force team conducted drives in different areas of the two districts and arrested the five JMB members, said Rab-5 Commander Lt Col Mahabubul Alam.
20 shops gutted
At least 20 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Sachiadah Bazar in Khulna on Wednesday night around 9 pm.
On information, 10 firefighting units from Khulna, Bagerhat and Gopalganj fire stations rushed in and brought the blaze under control around 10:30 pm, said Mamun, said Khulna Fire Service Control Room.
But the origin of the fire and quantity of damage could not be known immediately.
