Gono Bishwabidyalay mourns death of M Fazlul Huq
Gono Bishwabidyalay organised a condolence meeting at death of Dr M Fazlul Huq, Head, Chemistry & Physics Department, in the conference room of the Academic Building on Saturday, says a press release. Vice-chancellor of the university Laila Parveen Banu presided over the meeting.
M Fazlul Huq died of heart attack at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital On Friday. He was 75. He left behind his wife and two sons, according to a press release.
After completing his master degree Fazlul Huq started his career as a teacher in a college. Thereafter, he joined the then East Regional Laboratories (PCSIR), Dhaka in 1965 as a chemist. He earned PhD in organic chemistry in 1976 from Dijon University, France. He published 30 research papers and patented 25 industrial processes. He joined at Gonoshasthaya Kendra in 2007 after retirement from BCSIR, said the release.
Fazlul Huq joined at Gono Bishwabidyalay in 2013 and served as head of Chemistry and Physics department till his death. At the condolence meeting, Gono Bishwabidyalay former vice-chancellor Mesbahuddin Ahmed, registrar Md Delower Hossain, Arts and Social Sciences Faculty dean Monsur Musa, Mathematical Sciences Faculty dean Hasin Anupama Azhari, Veterinary and Animal Sciences Faculty dean Mostafizer Rahman and exam controller Mir Murtoza Ali spoke, among others.
IU official activities resume
Kushtia: Administrative activities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia resumed yesterday after a six-day summer vacation. IU Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif said the offices of the university went on vacation on May 19. However, academic activities of the university remain closed due to summer vacation, holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
