BMP beefs up security during Eid

Barishal  Metropolitan Police (BMP) has taken special security measures to curb mugging and other crimes and to ensure safety in the city ahead of this Eid-ul-Fitr. BMP held a meeting with different stakeholders in this regards at Barishal  Metropolitan Police hall room with BMP commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman in the chair. The meeting was addressed among others by Deputy Commissiner (South) Golam Rauf Khan, Deputy Commissioner (traffic) of BMP Uttam Kumar Pal and journalist Murad Ahmed.

The security measures were taken from yesterday which will remain effective till the city returned to normalcy after the Eid festival. Over 616 police personnel including four deputy commissioners, one additional deputy commissioner, six assistant commissioners, 15 inspectors, 65 sub-inspectors, 70 assistant sub-inspectors, 10 female sub-inspectors and 444 constables will be on duty round-the-clock for the next 27 days.  To make the security foolproof check posts have already been set up at different strategic points which are now being monitored by the law enforcers round the clock. The law enforcers will remain vigilant to check crimes in the city and its outskirts.

Several mobile teams are patrolling city roads and vulnerable areas to maintain law and order. Six teams of RAB is also patrolling on the city roads in coordination with different law enforcement agencies.   This special arrangements has already started functioning and will continue till the opening of the offices after Eid vacations, said Mahfuzur Rahman, commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police. “We have taken all possible security measures to ensure security for peaceful celebration of the Eid”, he said.
