A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by a man at Chotobutuni village in Shivalaya upazila early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ayesha Begum, 35, wife of Saudi expatriate Nazrul Islam of the village.

Victim’s daughter Sohana Akter said Abul Kalam Azad, 40, son of Monor Uddin of nearby Bilbarail village, forcibly took her mother out of their house around 1 am.

After tiding the victim with a chain at an abandoned place, Kalam beat her indiscreetly and left her critically injured.

Later, local found the victim in moribund condition and rushed her to Manikganj Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead.

Habibullah, acting officer-in-charge of Shivalaya Police Station, said the mystery behind her death would be cleared after an autopsy.
