Bangladesh embarked on their main training with bat and ball at the centre wicket of the home of cricket following their week-long fitness camp. They want to finish honing their skills and techniques from here to tame their improved opponents Afghanistan.
Even though Afghanistan are ahead of Bangladesh in T20 rankings, the latter is better side than the former in terms of experience and skills as Khaled Mahmud Sujon said.
He also said that they have capability to beat them and seek to win the series against Afghanistan.
“Winning the series is very important for us. We’ll move forward if we could win the series. There is no gain to keep that in mind right now,” said Khaled Mahmud Sujon yesterday.
“We’ve ability to best Afghanistan. We’re better side than them at any condition. We’re skillful team. Our batting, bowling unit is better than them,” Sujon told newsmen after their first skill practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
“It’s right that they have world class spinner but their entire team is not balanced. If we play better cricket by keeping our discipline in right way, I think, we can overwhelm them at any time and any day,” he added.
As per the reporters of the delegation, there will be more grass on the wickets. But some matches will be held on those surfaces before the start of the series and then the grass might be lessened. Actually they are prepared for whatever wickets are built for the series as Sujon said.
Before flying to Dehradun on May 29, the Tigers will hold two match-scenario practice sessions at the SBNCS on May 27 and 28 respectively under the supervision of the interim coach Courtney Walsh, who is due to arrive in Dhaka from Caribbean Islands today.
