A total of 92,667 Taiwanese companies were involved in e-commerce in 2016, an increase of 38.6 percent from 2011, according to a report disclosed Sunday, reports Xinhua from Taipei.
These companies accounted for 7.1 per cent of all registered businesses on the island.
The overall revenue of online sales also expanded 73.8 per cent to 3.5 trillion new Taiwan dollars (118.2 billion US dollars) during the period.
Business-to-business sales contributed to 85.1 per cent of the total revenue.
The report details information from the island’s census on e-commerce activities in industrial and service sectors, which is conducted every five years.
