Mosaddek happy to return to nat’l fold

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat

Promising spin all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat felt pretty well to return to the main fold after around a year-long hiatus, stating that he will attempt his utmost best to deliver for the team’s causes.

Saikat also said that he had needed this break for him after a protracted busy national and international schedule, the break which will bring his rhythm back in games.

“The break was not pretty little to me. It’s a long. Almost a year after I’ll play for Bangladesh team wearing its colourful jersey. It’s good feeling for me. It’s a new opportunity for me,” said Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who was recalled for the upcoming T20 away series against Afghanistan.

“Like the selectors and the team management I’ve full confidence in myself. A player has ups and downs in life and that’s a normal thing. My bad time has been elapsed. None of us never know what will be happened in the next. But my efforts will have for the team to give my utmost best,” Saikat told media before the outset of their fitness training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Mirpur yesterday.

The all-rounder, who missed a string of T20 series and tournament owing to his eye infection, said that the performance he showcased in the last premier league will give him impetus to perform better for the team’s successes.

“So far as I played for the national team, I understood how much confidence I have in myself. I think, if everything is okay and I could perform, in that case, I don’t see any reason of dropping from the team,” the 22-year-old Saikat said.

“It’s a break for me after a long hectic schedule. Now it’s past. So, I don’t think about it. I’m just focusing on my next games how I can perform well and how I can contribute to the team’s success,” he also said.

“I was unbeaten on eight matches of the last 10 matches in the last Premier League. It’s a p1us point for me. How much runs I make that’s not main thing. I’m focusing on those things,” he added.

Mosaddek stepped into one-day international against Afghanistan in 2016 what he did in T20 against Zimbabwe at the same year. After coming back, he will face the same opponent (Afghanistan) in T20. He said that they have to perform better to trounce them in T20 series.

“I didn’t think it in that way. I had debuted in T20 against Zimbabwe. If I think it in that case it will be Afghanistan after Zimbabwe. But I didn’t think so. They are very good opponent. We’ve to extend our own strength and play better cricket against them to beat them,” he thought.

When asked about his weakness against pace bowling, Saikat said that the success he earned that came from the pace-friendly wickets in the overesas’ condition.

“Probably I’ve played so far 25-26 matches in my international career. Among these matches, I so far played three to four matches at home soil. The rest of the matches was at overseas’ conditions,” Mymensingh-born lad said.

“The success I’ve made all that come from the outside of the country. The matches I played outside the country were no spinning track. All are pace-friendly condition. It’s not for me saying that I’m well at pace or spin bowling. Time will say it,” he added.
