Another lane of Fatehpur railway overpass on Dhaka-Chattogram highway, which has been experiencing huge tailbacks for more than a week, was opened to traffic yesterday, aiming to ease traffic jam on the busiest highway of the country, reports UNB. Mohammad Mohiuddin, Project Manager of contracting farm 'Al Amin Construction', said the Dhaka-bound lane of the overpass was opened around 4 pm.
"The construction work under the supervision of Bangladesh Army is going on in full swing and it'll be opened to traffic fully before Eid-ul-Azha," he hoped. Earlier on May 15, another lane of the railway overpass was opened to traffic.
The construction work on the 86.79-metre long railway overpass, involving Tk 105.7 crore at Fatehpur, started in 2012 with the supervision of Shipu BPL Contractor Company. Later, Bangladesh Army got the task to finish it. The Army started their work in April last year.
