Stock markets opened the week yesterday with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The falling major sectors were insurance and food and allied. A total of 268 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day
with 52.61 points down at 5,390.70. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 12.22 points down at 1,265.38 and with 16.37 points down at 2009.01.
The daily trade fell to 9.47 crore shares from Thursday’s 11.92 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Tk 395.66 crore from Tk 492.79 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 334 securities, prices of 50 securities closed higher against 261 losing issues. The major gaining issues were ADVENT, Legacy Foot, INTRACO, Rahim Textile and Sino Bangla. The major losing companies were BNICL, Meghan Condense Milk, Asian Insurance, Prime Life and MBL1STMF.
INTRACO topped the turnover list followed by BSRM Limited, Queen South, WMSHIPYARD and Legacy Foot.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 168.74 points down at 16,635.23.
At CSE, 217 issues were traded. Of those, 38 closed higher and 155 closed lower when 54.18 lakh shares worth Tk 16.85 crore changed hands.
