The South-West Asian Football Federation (SWAFF) with five SAFF countries was formed on Thursday night in, Jeddah with an aim to stage  the largest Asian tournament in the region.

According to a website news, it will be headed by Saudi Arabian Football Association chief Adel Ezzat until its first congress, to be held after the World Cup. The members of the new body are - Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen and Oman are from the West Asian region and India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives from the South Asian community while Nepal and Bhutan are the two South Asian countries were not included in the new body.

Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin, president of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and also the president of the BFF said, “Actually Saudi Arab called us, we attended the meeting, there was discussed about the development of football where some of the countries of Middle East and SAFF region also attended and in future there will be more discussion with how the organisation will go ahead.”
