Beximco Dhaka Masters hit back strongly to script their second victory when they thrashed Amber Chattagram Masters by five-wicket in their third match of the group phase fixture in the Walton Masters Cricket Carnival in Cox’s Bazar yesterday.
Amber Chattagram Masters compiled 127 for eight in the stipulated 16 overs after being put into bat at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS). Moballing James top-scored for Chattagram with 55. He clouted four maximum along with three fours in his 38-ball knock. Faisal Hossain Dickens claimed three wickets fro 33. Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Imran Parvez Ripon grabbed one wicket each for the Dhaka Masters.
In reply, Beximco Dhaka Masters overhauled the target with five wickets and two balls to spare.
Rafiqul Islam made the highest score of 28. Rashidul Haque Sumon (20), Faisal Hossain Dickens (18), Sajal Chowdhury (18), Mehrab Hossain Opee (17), Talha Jubair (14 not out) and Khaled Mahmud Sujon (two not out) were the other contributors of the winning side.
Dickens, who showed his dexterity with cherry and willow, was named for the man of the match.
Dhaka will fight against Sylhet Sixers Masters in their last group match to go through the final.
Despite wash-out their last group-phase match against Amber Chattagram Masters, Air Asia Rajshahi Masters sealed their final berth with their previous three successive victories.
In day’s other match, Raw-Nation Khulna Masters roared past Sylhet Sixers Masters by 12 runs as per the DLS method in the rain-interrupted fixture at the SKICS.
Raw Nation Khulna Masters put on 61 for four in seven overs, after which Sylhet Sixers Masters managed to score 58 for three in seven overs.
Today Khulna Masters will face off Chattagram Masters in the last group phase match at 9am.
