State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid yesterday said around 1,000-MW electricity would be added to the national grid during the month of holy Ramadan, reports BSS.
"We are committed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity during the holy month of Ramadan as some 1,000 MW power would be added to the national grid this month," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a view-exchange with the City's Shop Owners Association at Bidyut Bhaban in the capital.
The state minister some 10,986 MW power was generated yesterday in the country, while the generation capacity reached to 16,046 MW.
The government is putting in its relentless efforts to ensure adequate power supply across the country, he added.
He also directed the Petrobangla authority to increase supply of natural gas to 1,000 mmcfd from 950 mmcfd aimed at generating electricity smoothly.
