Noted Nazrul Sangeet and Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer Shahin Samad will be honoured with ‘Benuka Award 2015’for his immense contribution to music. Benuka Institute of Fine Arts is organising a cultural programme followed by an award giving ceremony today to celebrate its 35th founding anniversary at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, in the city. The cultural segment will feature songs and dance performances. Dr Leena Taposhi has directed the musical part, while the dance part has been directed and planned by Golam Mustafa Khan, founder, principal and general secretary, Benuka Cultural affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will attend the programme as chief guest today at 6pm, while acting secretary of Cultural Affairs Ministry Begum Akhtary Momtaz will be present as special guest. Benuka was founded in 1980 by dancer Golam Mustafa Khan to spread the Bengali culture among the new generation and to carry on the Bangladeshi view to others on culture and tradition through art, music and dance.
