Hospital struggles to cope with patients

Treatment of children suffering from pneumonia has been hampered seriously due to shortage of bed and nurses at Bhola Sadar Hospital. According to hospital sources, about 25 pneumonia patients were admitted in Bhola Sadar Hospital during the last one week. But there are only 10 beds for child patients in this hospital. Two child patients were seen sharing one bed at the hospital. Only a few nurses are attending the rush of children attacked by pneumonia. Senior nurse Protima Rani at the child ward said there are 52 posts of nurse in this hospital, but only 17 nurses are now struggling to cope with the situation. While contacted Dr Farid Ahamed, civil surgeon of Bhola, said pneumonia breaks out in rural areas following a change in weather. There is a stock of sufficient medicines in the hospital to treat pneumonia infection, he added.
