Owners and drivers of easy-bike (battery-run three-wheeler) along with their family mem-bers observed a sit-in pro-gramme yesterday deman-ding withdrawal of restriction on movement of their vehicles on three routes of the district where buses do not run. They observed the protest in front of the local press club as they kept more than two hundred easy-bikes inside the Shahid Shamsuzzoha park. Later, they handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner. The protesters claimed that there is no route permit given to buses for Meherpur-Mujibnagar, Meherpur-Kathuli and Meher-pur-Mohajonpur roads, but local administration im-posed restriction on movement of the three-wheelers on the roads. They also said no road in the district is termed as highway. Sazzadul Anam, President, Easy-bike Owners and Drivers Association, said they have been undergoing a subhuman life for the last few days due to the ban on plying of three wheelers. He said they will go for a tougher movement if their demand is not fulfilled within three days.
