Unauthorised ice-cream factories sealed off

The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday sealed off two unauthorized factories and confined its owners Tk 2 lakh fine for manufacturing unhygienic ice-cream. Talking to The Independent, Major Syed Salauddin Mahmud, acting commanding officer of RAB-2 said getting secret information, a team of RAB led by Deputy Director Dr Md Didarul Alam raided in Sabujbagh area in the capital around 12pm. After searching Danish Ice-cream and Tripti Ice-cream factory in the area, we found that ice-creams were being manufactured in unhygienic environment in these unauthorized factories. We also destroyed around 1 lakh and 50,000 pieces of ice-cream, Major Salauddin added.
During the primary interrogation, Danish Ice-cream owner Mujibur Rahman and Tripti Ice-cream owner Anawar Hossain admitted that they were mixing some poisonous chemicals and artificial scent to make the ice-cream tastier. They were also using unpurified water, RAB alleged. Later a mobile court led by executive magistrate Md Helal Uddin fined both the owners Tk one lakh each and if not paid, they will suffer one year jail, said RAB-2 boss.
