Man held with 3 lakh yaba tablets

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) detained a man and seized three lakh yaba tablets from Anwara upazila of Chittagong district on Saturday evening. The arrestee was Md Amir Hossain, 35.   Lt Col Mifta Uddin, chief of RAB-7, at a press briefing held yesterday said RAB detained Amir Hossain with 30,000 yaba tablets from his residence in Badarpur around 6:30pm on Saturday. Later, on the basis of his confession, RAB also seized 1.20 lakh yaba tablets from the courtyard of his in-laws house in Mohammad Ullapara area under the upazila. On Sunday around 3pm, RAB conducted another drive in the same area and seized more 1.50 lakh yaba tablets. He said Hossain is a relative of a drug peddler Abu Zafar, who died in a ‘gunfight’ with RAB-7 at a check-post on Sea Beach Road in Patenga on July 26 this year. Later, Hossain took over the business of Zafar and kept the seized yaba tablets.
