2 ‘JMB men’ held in Rajshahi

Police in a drive arrested two members of banned Islamist outfit ‘Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh’ (JMB) from Tarash area in in Rajshahi on Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Jalal, 55, and his son Adil, 30, of the area.  Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them around 12:30pm, said Abdur Razzak, assistant superintendent of Rajshahi police.

Woman held with 9 lakh rupees

Police arrested a woman and recovered nine lakh Indian rupees from her possession from Pachura Shinduri Bridge area in Cumilla on Sunday night.

The arrestee was identified as Nilufa Begum, 45, wife Khorshed Alam of Pachura village in the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Burichang Police Station, Manoz Kumar De, said police intercepted a CNG-run-auto rickshaw and held Nilufa along with the indian currencies concealed in her waist with paper.

Tea estate security guard killed

A security guard of a privately-run tea estate was stabbed to death allegedly by some young people following a brawl over grazing cattle inside the tea state at Fatehpur in Sylhet on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Pradhannyo Patro, 27, son of Binoy Patro of Jointapur upazila and a security guard of Gulni Tea State.

Fake currency-making factory busted

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members unearthed a counterfeit currency-making factory at Sostapur Baitul Monir Road of Fatullah in Narayanganj on Tuesday and arrested two people in this connection. Based on secret information, a team of Rab-2 conducted a drive on the 5th floor of a multi-storey building around 7:30 am and recovered fake currency worth Tk 41.37 lakh and forged currency-making equipment, said ASP (Media) of the Rab battalion Md Shahinur Islam.
