Evergreen musician Kumar Bishwajit has completed three decades in the country’s musical arena. During this long and colourful journey, he received numerous awards and recognitions in home and abroad besides bestowing with the prestigious National Film Award three times. Though he involved with music in 1977, his professional journey in music started in 1982.
With his all-time hit song ‘Tore Putuler Moto Kore Sajiye’, written by Abdullah Al Mamun and tuned and composed by Nakib Khan, Kumar Bishwajit won the hearts of the audience in his early career. The song was aired in a programme titled ‘Sheuli Mala’ on Bangladesh Television.
Kumar Bishwajit made his debut in the playback with the song ‘Amra Dujon Duti Shanto Chele’, tune and music composition done by noted music director Alauddin Ali. Then, he lent his vocal to countless songs for films.
Kumar Bishwajit said, “My father was a businessman, and he wanted me to pay attention to business. But I could come to today’s position because of my mother only. This is not possible to pay off her debt anyway. I am grateful to lyricist of my first super hit song ‘Tore Putuler Moto Kore Sajiye’ Abdullah Al Mamun, music director Nakib Khan and music director of first playback Alauddin Ali. In my long career, I have worked with many lyricists, music composers and music directors and I am cordially grateful to all of them.”
“With blessing, love and cooperation from everyone, I am today’s Kumar Bishwajit. Whatever I have given to the musical arena in my short life, I have received a lot from the audience in return”, he added.
To note, Kumar Bishwajit received the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer two times for the films Swami Streer Wada (2009) and Ma Amar Chokher Moni (2011), while the film ‘Swami Streer Wada’ also brought him the Best Music Composer award.
