Death anniv of Birshrestha Noor Mohammad observed

The 44th death anniversary of Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Sheikh was observed at Noor Mohammad Nagar in Narail in a befitting manner yesterday.
District administration and Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Trust jointly organised a
day-long programme to mark the day.
 The day’s programme began with Qurankhwani, offering Fateha, Milad Mahfil and placing of  wreaths at the monument of the veteran freedom fighter. Narail Press Club, district administration, police administration, Birshrestha Noor Mohammad School and College, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Noor Mohammad Trust and different socio cultural organisations placed  wreaths at the Noor Mohammad Memorial Monument.
A rally was brought out from Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Memorial Museum and Library premises and paraded different roads before ending at his house at Mohishkhola village, which was later renamed as Noor Mohammad Nagar.   
 Later, a discussion meeting on the life and works of the Birshrestha was held at Noor Mohammad Memorial Museum and Library auditorium with Noor Mohammad Trust president and Deputy Commissioner of Narail Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.  Noor Mohammad Sheikh was born on February 25, 1936 at village Mohiskhola, [currently Noor Mohammad Nagar).
He joined the East Pakistan Rifles in 1959 and took part in the Liberation War in 1971. He embraced martyrdom on September 5, 1971 in a face to face fighting with Pakistani Army at Goalhati area in Jessore district and saved the lives of his fellow fighters. He was posthumously offered ‘Birshrestha’ title for his outstanding contribution to our War of Liberation.
