Negligence by doctors will not be tolerated: Nasim

Health and Family Welfare affairs Minister Mohammad Nasim said negligence by doctors will not be tolerated.
Doctors must stay at their work places for a specified period of time, he said adding they have been recruited for public services, not for private practice.  Stern action would be taken against those found negligent of duty, he warned.
The minister was speaking at the ‘mangal shova jatra and lamp lighting’ ceremony marking the Janmashtami, a Hindu religious festival, at Mazib road in Sirajganj town yesterday morning.  He further said doctors should ensure services for people of all communities as Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony.
The present government has ensured equal rights for all religious people. Consequently, people of all the religions, including Hindu, Buddha and Christian, are freely performing their own religious rituals.
Mohammad Nasim attended the programme as chief guest while it was presided over by Angkur Jyit Shaha, president of Puja Udjapan Committee.
Prof Dr Habib-e-Millat Munna, lawmaker of Sirajganj-2 constituency, Billal Hossain, deputy commissioner, Miraz Uddin, superintendent of police, Selim Ahmed, acting mayor of Sirajganj municipality, among others, spoke on the occasion.
