papers with the help of some unscrupulous persons before the exams. He collected the question papers of various public recruitment tests and made copies of them to distribute among the examinees,” he said.
Bangladesh Bank’s assistant director (AD) Abu Jafar Majumdar and several other bank officials are also involved in question paper leakage. We’re trying to detain all of them, the police official added. ,
Earlier, on April 7, The DB had detained 10 people, three bank officials among them, in connection with question leak of different public and bank examinations. During initial interrogation, they admitted their involvement in the crime and named Pulakesh Das, Abu Jafar Majumder and Karzan as the main leaders of the group.
Abu Jafar Majumder disappeared from his office on April 4. Police officers feel that he went into hiding because he has been accused, among others, in the question paper leak case.
Karzan, IIT officer of Sonali Bank, is now on the run.
Pulakesh told interrogators he used to import a special electrical device with the help of some dishonest traders in China and developed a large syndicate. In this work, he got several bank officials as his collaborators. Some of his associates used to get in touch with candidates from villages through acquaintances.
Some of the associates prepared the answer papers for the examinees and sent them through the devices attached to the examinees’ bodies.
They used to demand Tk. 30,000–40,000 for preliminary exams. Those who passed the test had to shell out more money later. A case has been filed against Pulakesh and his associates. A remand appeal will be sought before the court for obtaining further information from them, said Masudur Rahman.
