A five-day photography exhibition titled ‘Because I was There-2’ begins on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), reports UNB.
A total of 166 photographs of Bangladeshi and Indian photographers has been put on display at Gallery-5 of BSA.
Narayanganj Photographic Club (NPC) in collaboration with FOTOJAJS from India organized the Bangladesh-India picture competition and exhibition marking the 6th founding anniversary of NPC.
Prominent photographers Nasir Ali Mamun, Abir Abullah, Saiful Huq Omi, and Jhinku Banerjee from FOTOJAIS of India, among others, were present in the inaugural ceremony. A discussion event ‘Artist Talk’ by M R Hasan was held on the opening day evening as part of the event.
President and founding member of the club Joy J K Roy Chowdhury said that the photography club strives to enrich the photography lover community by fully exposing the creative and documentary potential of photography and provide an opportunity to broaden these interests in a mutually supportive environment.
“Through exhibitions of artistic achievements, special guest speakers, and photography trips, we hope to share our love for photography and build friendships around it,” he said.
Tanvir Murad Topu, Avijit Nandy and Joydeep Mukherjee will discussion on photography and its philosophy in the ‘Artist Talk’ at 6 pm on April 18,19 and 20 respectively.
Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu will be present as the chief guest in the closing ceremony while Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla will attend as the special guest.
The exhibition will remain open from 11 am to 8 pm until April 21.
