The burial of Hosneara Laizu (Nipa Rani) whose body had been kept at Rangpur Medical College Hospital for more than four years due to legal complications over her religious conversion had to complete within three days according to Islamic rituals as the High Court yesterday released the copy of its order over the matter. The 15-page copy of the HC verdict has been released after Justice Md Miftah Uddin Chowdhury putting his signature on the copy of the verdict.
Earlier on April 12, in a verdict the HC directed the deputy commissioner of Nilphamari to execute the order within three days after getting the copy of the order in presence of the magistrate and law enforcers.
The court also asked him to allow her father’s family to take part in the last rites.
According to the case statement, Nipa Rani converted to Islam and took up the name ‘Hosneara Laizu’ before marrying her lover Lazu, a Muslim boy. Her family filed an abduction case against Lazu.
Later, Lazu served a jail term and Nipa was brought back to her family.
After being released from jail, Lazu committed suicide by taking poison.
Hearing the news, Nipa also committed suicide in the same way.
