Tushar wants to stage comeback in nat’l side

At this moment, Tushar Imran is the much-talked about player in Bangladesh domestic circuit for his jaw-dropping performance that plumed with records and century after century especially in the longer version cricket that raised a question about his possible but dubious comeback in Test.

Last time Tushar wore national team’s jersey against New Zealand in 2007, a 10-11 year-long hiatus. He still feels regret of not giving his best during his playing stint for the national team.

Seeking another chance, the veteran domestic campaigner said that he is ready to go through a test to reach his goal playing for the national team again.

“We’ve two Test matches ahead. Before that, Sri Lanka ‘A’ team will come here to play against us. The team management can try out by me. I think the player or players should go through a process for the national,” said Tushar Imran, who crossed the 10,000-run milestone along with some other records under his belt.

“There is a current process that started with age-level to HP and then A team to National team what was absent for so many years. Now it’s open to all. If I get chance like everybody I’ll try to capitalise it,” Tushar told media.

Though it is tough for him, the 34-year-old batsman believes that he has enough experience and fitness what is needed for playing Test.

“I think, it’s a big challenge because those who are playing for the current Bangladesh team especially at my position have a host of good cricketers including Mushfique, Shakib, Riyad, Mominul. Their place in Test is consolidated,” the experienced batsman said.

“I’ve to make more runs in domestic cricket to beat any of them. So, I’m trying to do this. I’m still hopeful that I could stage comeback in the national fold,” he also said.

The right-handed batsman said that he prefers to play Test than other formats of games because he has no required fitness for the one-day and T20 games.

“In Test, there is no much need for fitness. If you have 70-80 percent fitness, you can play the longer version cricket comfortably. Player’s experience is must for Test what I gathered during the span of my 16-17 years career,” he thought.

When asked about his batting display in domestic cricket, Tushar informed, “Before getting down batting, I take a challenge with myself because I know I’ve to beat good players of my team the likes of Mithun, Bijoy, Imrul, Souyma to survive in my side. I try to make more runs than them. I play with this target and succeed in my efforts."

Tushar played so far  played156 first-class matches but his target to cross the milestone of 200 first-class outings as he said.

“In first class, I’ve a target to play 200 matches and then go on retirement from the cricket. But it’s still a long way. In our perspective, we get hardly chance to play 10-12 first class matches in a year. It’s long path of 200th match. I’m thinking to continue it,” he continued.

Being inspired by Pakistan ex-captain Misbah-Ul-Haq, not Razzak, Tushar said that he is still eyeing to come back to the national fold only for Test.

“Razzak was not out of the national for a longer period. It’ll be hardly four years. But I was outside of the team for the 10-year period. If he can do it after four-year why then I am not. We’ve no difference in age. I might be senior more than one or two years to him. I’m trying with this hopes that it’s possible to play Test for the national side in this age,” he thought.

“I’ve inspired to see Pakistan former captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who played Test for a longer period after being started his career at age of 30. Despite having so many good players in then Pakistan team, he played for the Pakistan team,” he viewed.
