Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said that it makes little sense to repatriate a 5-member family (by Myanmar) out of the total 11 lakh. “It is also none of our concern as the Myanmar authorities repatriated them from the zero line of Myanmar territory,” he told The Independent over telephone yesterday. At present, there are at least 5,000 Rohingya families living on the no-man’s land between the two countries.
“We are hopeful that the Myanmar authorities will start repatriation of their displaced citizens, known as Rohingya, anytime soon,” the home minister said. “A minister of Myanmar has already visited the Rohingya camps recently and he has assured us that they will take back their citizens after completing the necessary process,” the home minister added.
