To welcome the Bangla New Year 1425, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a celebration programme at its premises on Saturday.

The programme began with the performance of palagaan ‘Podmar Nachon’ and traditional gombhira dance at the open yard of BSA at 4:30pm.

Then, a discussion meeting was held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA. Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan attended the event as main discussant.

At the cultural event, artistes of Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad presented chorus rendition ‘Tumi Nirmolo Koro Mongolo Koro’, ‘Pran Bhoriye Trisna Horiye’, ‘More Aro Aro Aro Deo Pran’, ‘Tora Sob Joyodhoni Kor’, ‘Betho Praner Aborjona’ ‘Aloker Ei Jhorna Dharay’ and ‘Manush Ho Manush Ho’.

Besides, dance artistes performed with the traditional songs of Baishakh, such as ‘Eso He Baishkah’, ‘Ektara Dotara Bashir Sure’ and ‘Bajere Baje Dhol Tale Tale’, ‘Ailo Ailo Aloire’, ‘Ronge Bhora Baiskakh’ and others.

Artistes of BSA presented group dances with the songs ‘Elo Elo Elore, Baishakhi Jhor Elore and ‘Bajere Dhol Baje Dom Soma Dom’.

The programme also featured solo music rendition by prominent singers Anima Roy, Priyanka Gope, Saidur Rahman Boyati, Kangalini Sufia and Rafiqul Alam, while poetry recitation by Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Nirmalendu Goon, Laila Afroz, Dahlia Ahmed and Kazi Bushra Ahmed Tithi.
