Bangladesh spent a disappointing day at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 as they couldn’t grab any medals in the two disciplines they participated yesterday.
Bangladesh participated in the women’s 50 meter rifle prone and 74 kg wrestling, where in the shooting event Suraiya Aktar placed 14th and Shilpa Sharmin placed 17th and in the event of wrestling Ali Amzad lost his two respective matches.
The two shooters couldn’t make it to the final eight at the Belmont Shooting Complex in Brisbane as Suraiya Aktar scored 604.3 while Shilpa Sharmin scored 599.2.
On the other hand, Bangladeshi wrestler Ali Amzad couldn’t proceed to the final round as he lost his first match to Kiribati's Teetu Ioaba and second match to Nigerian wrestler Assizecourt Ebimlenfaghe.
Shooters Abdullah Hel Baki and Shakil Ahmed won silver medals in their respective events of 10 metre air rifle and 50 meter pistol. Baki also won a silver medal in the last games in Glasgow four years ago.
