The injury list of the national players is gradually widening further prior to the resumption of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) as Nasir Hossain’s name has been added to the list at the latest.

Opener Tamim Iqbal, speedster Taskin Ahmed, spin all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, pacer Rubel Hossain missed the BCL due to their injuries.

Also Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes could not play the BCL games as the duo went to Saudi Arabia to perform Umra Hajj.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman will also miss as they are now  busy in their Indian Premier League (IPL) stints.

As a result, the longer version cricket- BCL- will resume after a two-month break without the participation of the bulk of the national players.

Like other players, Nasir is all set to play the fourth-round fixture of the BCL but his ligament injury took him out of the game.

After lifting the Dhaka Primer League (DPL) for Abahani Limited, Nasir Hossain went to Sirajganj to celebrate his friend’s wedding ceremony, where he sustained his injury on his ligament when he went to play football with other friends at Rahmatganj School field in Sirajganj.

The spin all-rounder yesterday came to the BCB chief physician with the help of a crutch to see his injury. After seeing Nasir, Dr Debashis Chowhdury suggested him to perform an MRI at Apollo Hospital to know the exact cause of his injury.

But Debashis primarily thinks that his ligament has been tore apart. If it is truly happened, in that case, he has to go in the process of operation, which will be time consuming matter.

“We’re primarily thinking that Nasir Hossain’s ligament has been torn apart. It’ll clearly be understood after getting the report. Actually everything will hinge on his MRI report, which will be released on Monday (today),” Debashis Chowdhury told The Independent by phone.

In fourth-round fixture, BCB North Zone will face off Walton Central Zone at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura, while Prime Bank South Zone will take on Islami Bank East Zone at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) in Sylhet.

Among the national players, Mushfiqur Rahim will be seen batting for BCB North Zone, Mahmudullah Riyad for Walton Central Zone, Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar for Prime Bank South Zone and Liton Kumar Das for Islami Bank East Zone. Riyad already joined the team and practiced with the players at afternoon session. Mosharraf Hossain Rubel will play his 100th first class match on the day for Central Zone.
