The government has taken a plan to enact export friendly policy 2018-2021 for achieving US$ 60 billion export earnings target from the existing US $35 billion within 2021, reports BSS.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said this responding to a query made by Mrs Amina Ahmed from the treasury bench during question answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here yesterday.
“The formulation of the new export policy is now under way,” said the minister.
Initiatives will be taken to include new products under the export items like ship, electronic goods, bicycle, camera parts, lens, optics frame, metal toys, plastic goods, wigs, hook, wheel and sandal, he said, adding, so that the dependency on the key export item ready made garments (RMG) would be reduced.
In addition to this, the initiative for development of the ports including infrastructure would also be continued for extension of the export trade of the country, he said.
