Bangladesh has sent 51,98,914 male and female Bangladeshi workers from 2009 to 2017.
“The Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry has undertaken various activities aimed at sending more workers abroad,” Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said.
He said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Ali Azam of Bhola-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. The minister said the ministry has taken various initiatives to create new job markets along with the existing ones.
He said the government has successfully increased the number of overseas job markets to 165 during the last nine years, which was only 97 during the tenure of last alliance government.
With the sincere efforts of the government, female workers went to Saudi Arabia since July 2015, while male relatives of those female workers could go Saudi Arabia considering their security, Nurul Islam added.
