World Health Day observed at JU

SAVAR: The World Health Day was observed on Saturday on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus here with much enthusiasm.

To mark the day, JU Public Health and Informatics (PHI) department  organised a seminar at the Senate hall of the university at 11 am where JU  Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam addressed it as the chief guest. Addressing the function, JU VC Professor Dr Farzana Islam said the rate of  various non-communicable diseases, including cancer, kidney stones and  diabetes, are on the rise. "It is necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle  to prevent these diseases," she said, adding.

Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, Dean of Law and Justice Faculty Professor Bashir Ahmed and Professor of Gono Bishwabidyalaya Dr. Anupama Azhari addressed the function as special guest.  Speakers at the function stressed on raising awareness among mass people  about maintaining a healthy life. Students and Teachers of PHI department were present at the function.  Earlier, PHI department and Medical Center of the university jointly  brought out a rally on the campus that ended at JU administrative buildings after parading different streets.

DU friends’ association celebrates 2nd reunion

Dhaka University Friends' Association (DUFA) on Friday celebrated its 2nd reunion on the campus amid festivity and enthusiasm.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the celebration by cutting a cake at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus.

A colorful procession led by the vice-chancellor was brought out from TSC premises which returned to the venue after parading different campus thoroughfares.

IU Pro-VC meets Okayama University VC

KUSHTIA: Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, pro-vice chancellor of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, paid a courtesy call on Professor Dr Yasunobu Yanagisawa, president (Vice Chancellor) of Okayama University of Science (OUS) in Japan recently at the Okayama University VC’s office, an IU press release.

OUS Vice President (Pro-VC) Prof Shujiro Dohta and its senior Prof Hiroki Hamada, among others, were present on the occasion.

During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaboration research, technical cooperation of research and exchange programme of students and teachers between the universities, the release added.

IU Pro VC Prof M Shahinoor Rahman wrote on his Facebook page a team of Okayama University will visit IU at the last week of April-2018 and a MoU will also be signed during the visit. Earlier, Professor Shahinoor Rahman met with Dr Yuta Nishina and DrYashushi Iwabuchi at Okayama University in Japan.

RUMUNA gets new committee

Making Imrul Hasan president and Al Imran general secretary a new committee of Rajshahi University Model United Nations Associations (RUMUNA) has been formed.

Adviser of the association   Professor Dr. Shah Azom Shantlu declared the committee on Saturday, a press release said at 08.00pm of the day.

The other office bearer are organizing Secretary Fatema Nur provati, and Sabiha Alam Mohua, publicity secretary Sultan Salauddin, representative secretary Sakib Ahmed, public relation secretary Azmira Islam Urmi, conference management secretary Niamus Sabbir, finance secretary Samiul Alam, research secretary Nadia Sharmin Rithu, Human Resource secretary Kabir Ridoy and Development secretary Ashikur Rahman.
