GOPALGANJ: Two people including a college student were killed and 15 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch beside the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopinathpur Sharifpara area under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.

One of the deceased was identified as Ashik, 21, a student of the Gopalganj Chandradigalia Polytechnic Institute, hailed from Tilchhora village of Kashiani upazila and the other was Ruku Molla, 65, a member of the police force of Boalia village under Gopinathpur.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar thana Monirul Islam said the accident occurred when a Gopalganj-bound bus from Kashiani fell into the ditch in the area around 10 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Ashik dead on the spot and injuring 16 others.Being informed, Police and two units of Goplaganj Fire Service & Civil Defence rushed to the spot and sent the wounded to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where Ruku Molla succumbed to his injuries.
