MI brace for ‘deceptive’ Mustafizur

Mustafizur Rahman is expected to make the cut in the final XI as Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Chennai Super Kings in the opening of the 11th Indian Premier League (IPL) today at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

If the indication made by Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma is anything to go by, Mustafizur is all but sure to make the starting line up. The Fizz as he is adorably called by the fans had a poor season last year with Sunrisers Hyderabad, mainly because of the injury but in this season he has been at his best.

Despite Sunrisers played him just one match in the last season and didn’t retain him in the auction, Mumbai showed an urgency in the bid to get him. It is believed the slow pitch in the Wankhede stadium would come up with good for his stock delivery cutter.

Mumbai however had recently posted a video in their facebook page where Mustafizur was delivering slower cutter. The captain of the video read: “Here’s a deceptive ‘slower-one’ by The Fizz - Mustafizur Rahman!”

Shakib Al Hasan was the other from Bangladesh who was sold in the IPL. Shakib who played for Kolkatana Knight Riders in the past five seasons was bought for Mustafizur’s former franchise Sunriser Hyderabad who will play their opening match against Rajstahn Royals on Monday.
