Low-key end to Sheikh Jamal

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club failed to live up to the expectation as they ended the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with third position when they had the chance to clinch the trophy.

As Abahani Limited won their match against Legends of Rupganj, ending the speculation of who would put the hands on trophy, Jamal had still chance to be runners-up but their four-wicket defeat to Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium ruined the hopes.

Their defeat meant Legends of Rupganj edged them by net-run-rate to finish as runners-up.

Sheikh Jamal were bowled out for just 160 in the crucial game with captain Nurul Hasan top-scoring with 47 in an otherwise meek batting performance.

Captain Nazimuddin led from the front with 61 runs as Khelaghar chased down the target in 36.5 overs with four wickets at hands.

In another match at Fatullah Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Gazi Group Cricketers tasted a five-wicket defeat to Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club.

Gazi Group were bowled out for 95 runs before Prime Doleshwar chased down the target with 26 overs and five wickets to spare. Nasum Ahmed bagged four wickets for 10 runs in just 3.4 overs for Prime Doleshwar.

Young left-armer Abu Hider bagged three wickets at the top of the order during Doleshwar’s chase but in the end Doleshwar reached the target safely.
