Six feature films of independent filmmaker Abu Sayeed, those are considered to be different in style and theme, will be screened at a two-day film screening event at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium of National Public Library in Shahbagh today and tomorrow. Today, on the first day, three feature films titled ‘Kittonkhola’, ‘Shankhanad’ and ‘Nirontor’ will be screened at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm respectively. Tomorrow, Abu Sayeed’s latest film titled ‘Opekkha’ will be screened at 7pm while, his two other films ‘Banshi’ and ‘Rupantor’ will be screened at 3pm and 5pm respectively. To note, Abu Sayeed is currently making a new film titled ‘Dressing Table’, under the banner of Impress Telefilm.
Abu Sayeed, one of the pioneers of making independent film, started his career as a filmmaker with the short film ‘Abortion’ in 1987. Since then his films have been shown in various international film festivals across the globe. His film ‘Nirontor’ (Forever Flows) won the Special Jury Award at the International Film Festival of India 2006. Till date, Abu Sayeed earned six national and three international awards for his creative films.
